Bringing Basketball Home to Los Angeles
We're All Shades Nova, a basketball league and community health program based in Los Angeles, California, serving underserved neighborhoods throughout the city. We run adult basketball leagues for men ages 18-50, youth clinics for ages 6-18, and workshops on health, wellness, and financial literacy that give our community the resources they deserve. Basketball brought us together, but our work goes far beyond the court—we're here to build connections, improve health, and create opportunities for people who too often get overlooked. More Than Buckets and Boards
We believe basketball is more than a game—it's a tool for building the kind of community we all deserve to live in. When people play together, they start looking out for each other off the court too. When kids learn teamwork and discipline through sports, those lessons follow them home, to school, and into their futures. When families come together at tournaments and events, neighborhoods get stronger and people stop feeling alone in their struggles. We've spent years watching basketball break down barriers that other programs can't touch, bringing together people of different ages, backgrounds, and circumstances who might never have connected otherwise. That's why we built All Shades Nova around the game—because we've seen firsthand how powerful it can be when the right people use it the right way.
We Show Up for Our Community
We know that underserved communities in Los Angeles face real challenges—limited access to quality programs, lack of health resources, financial stress, and too few safe spaces where people can come together. We also know that our community has incredible strength, talent, and potential that just needs the right support to shine. That's exactly what All Shades Nova exists to provide. We're committed to keeping our programs accessible, our environment welcoming, and our focus on what actually matters to the people we serve. We don't just show up for the games and tournaments—we show up for the workshops, the health fairs, the conversations, and the hard work of building something that lasts. This isn't a hobby or a side project for us. This is about caring for our children, our elderly, our women, and every person who makes our Los Angeles neighborhoods home.
Olajuwon Harris
Founder
Olajuwon Harris founded All Shades Nova after spending a decade coaching basketball and working in health and fitness across Los Angeles. Those ten years taught him that the court is where real relationships start, where self-esteem grows, and where people discover they're capable of more than they thought possible. He saw too many talented players and strong communities getting passed over simply because of their zip code, and he decided to do something about it. As founder and primary leader, Olajuwon handles strategic direction, program development, and community outreach—but more importantly, he shows up. He knows the neighborhoods we serve because he's been coaching in them for years. He understands what our community needs because he's listened, learned, and stayed committed even when it wasn't easy. His vision for All Shades Nova has always been clear: create a place where everyone belongs, where physical fitness matters as much as mental health, and where sports become the foundation for lasting change. That vision guides everything we do.
